New Delhi: In the long and illustrious history of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, Dharamsala has a legendary status.
In 2010, MS Dhoni famously rescued his team with a thrilling last-over finish in a must-win match and guided Chennai to the finals.
CSK ended up winning the first of the five IPL championships. Fourteen years later, CSK found themselves in trouble again against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala.
Ahead of the match at the picturesque ground, CSK shared a video on their official X handle in which bowling coach Eric Simmons talks about the team's strategy.
“We have to focus on one game at a time,” Simmons said. “Sometimes things don't go our way, and even with injuries and illnesses, we all stick together. I think we're getting there.” We've had some missteps, we've had some little hiccups, but there's going to be some decisions made in the morning and one or two guys got a little bit of the flu in the last game, but they're fine. I think he is recovering, so I think he will be eligible for selection.โ
Speaking about the ground, Simmons, who is from South Africa, said: “I have some great memories here, the last time South Africa lost to the Netherlands, so that's a great memory. But it's a great place to play cricket.'' It's the location. It's not just the view, but the whole facility, the stadium, the people that I'm really looking forward to. โ
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is in good form but CSK still needs to adjust the pace of their batting in a season where the team is pushing the limits of boundary hitting.
CSK is not benefiting from unfavorable dew factors. It was a hindrance to the already ineffective batting lineup, but given that the game was held in the afternoon, that shouldn't be an acceptable reason.
