The Highland Huskies ended the week in boys soccer with a 3-1 win over Cedar Valley Christian on Friday. Highland scored the only goal of the first half thanks to junior Jared Diaz, and the Huskies built a halftime advantage with scores from freshmen Jose Ramirez and Hunter Siebel to end their losing streak at four. The win improved Highland to 5-7, more wins than the Huskies had in the past four seasons combined.
The Waco Warriors weren't as lucky Friday night at home against Danville. Senior Colton Leichty and junior Joel Meyer each scored for WACO to keep the game level at 2 going into halftime, but the Warriors could not maintain momentum in the second half as Danville pulled away to take the lead at 5-2. I won. With the loss, WACO falls to 4-6 overall, including 3-4 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.
