GULF SHORES, ALABAMA— A historic year for the University of Washington beach volleyball team ended Friday with a heartbreaking 3-1 loss to No. 4 Florida State University.
The Dawgs, making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, pushed the Seminoles to three sets on three different pairs, but it wasn't enough. Zoe Henson and lauren wilcock (No. 2) earned UW's only win in the dual before FSU was shut out.
The Huskies' greatest beach volleyball season in history came to an end today in a double match at the National Championship Tournament. The team reached new heights as a program and earned its highest ranking.
The Huskies began the year with an unprecedented 11 student-athletes (three transfers and eight freshmen). All three transfers entered the starting lineup and made an immediate impact. Five freshmen became regular starters by the final month of the season and are likely to return next year. The Huskies graduated just four players this year and are gearing up for another NCAA appearance next year.
