Cheboygan โ Oh, they were so close.
With only minutes remaining, the Cheboygan Chiefs appear destined for their biggest win of the football season.
However, the Chiefs, who were holding a narrow 1-0 lead, were called for a foul in their own box, and McBain Northern Michigan Christian's Jada Vannord set the stage and calmly converted a penalty kick with 6 minutes and 49 seconds remaining. I caught up with the score. As a result, the Chiefs had to settle for a 1-1 draw against the league-leading Comets on Thursday in Cheboygan.
“I thought it was a really clean tackle. I thought it was ball-first. Both kids were really hustling,” Cheboygan coach Tom Markham said. “Jada (Van Noort) was a pretty good player and played hard, so I felt like we had a chance. We should have made up for it in the first half, but the Cheboygan Chiefs had a really solid effort tonight.”

Cheboygan's one-goal advantage. Defensively, Chiefs were solid as well, limiting NMC's lethal attack to just one goal.
“We won a lot of balls and had a great practice (Wednesday). I'm really proud of these kids. We said if we're going to screw up, we're going to screw up big.” Markham said. โI think tonight was a breakthrough moment for us because they played with heart, they played together and they got some really solid chances.โ
The tie leaves NMC (11-0-1, 9-0-1) the only undefeated team in the NMSL.
