Worcestershire have announced the death of 20-year-old spin bowler Josh Baker.
Baker turned professional in 2021 and played his last game for the first team in April 2024 against Durham at Kidderminster, starting on April 19.
Baker played in Worcestershire's second XI against Somerset on 1 May 2024, the day before his death, picking up three wickets and signing a new three-year contract with Pears that runs until 2025.
Worcestershire chief executive Ashley Giles said:
“Josh was more than a teammate. He was an integral part of our cricket family.
“We will all miss him very much. All our love and prayers go out to Josh's family and friends.”
The left-arm spinner has played 22 first-class matches and taken 43 wickets in his career, played 17 List A matches and eight T20s, and earned two caps at England Under-19 level. , played against Sri Lanka in 2021.
