Luis Enrique said the Paris Saint-Germain dressing room was “a bit depressed” after the 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League first leg.
A first-half goal from Niklas Furkruk sealed Dortmund's victory in a thrilling match on Wednesday.
Niko Schlotterbeck's precise pass allowed Furkruk to control the ball expertly and slot it past keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the 36th minute.
Dortmund's disciplined defense held firm throughout the game, despite PSG coming close to leveling the score with Kylian Mbappé and Achraf Hakimi's poor shots hitting the wooden frame.
“Everyone knew this wasn't going to be easy, this is the semi-final of the Champions League,” coach Luis Enrique said after the match.
“We were a bit depressed in the dressing room, especially after hitting the post twice. But the supporters pushed us throughout the game. This is a special stadium with fans who know how to support the team. We must recognize that
“Both teams created a lot of chances today. But they scored and we didn't. The result reflects how close the game was. This is a new challenge for both teams. It’s the situation.”
“In the last two matches, they played the second home game and we did the opposite. We will now have the crowd on our side in the second leg. Of course we will have to do that. “We will be more effective there than we are today.'' ”
