Russell High School senior Anna Thielen signed her National Letter of Intent Wednesday morning to play basketball at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina next school year.
A signing ceremony was held Wednesday at Amos Morris Gym in Russell.
Thielen said she chose KWU because she wanted to be close to home and was really impressed with her visit to the campus and program.
RHS Activities Director Andy Steube, Anna's father Joey, RHS Girls Basketball Head Coach Tyson Revell, and former Wilson High School Girls Basketball Head Coach Ted Long also spoke.
After Wilson High School closed, Thielen transferred to Russell. Long was her coach at Wilson.
Everyone who spoke at the ceremony spoke highly of Thielen's personality both on and off the court.
Several of Russell and Wilson's teammates attended the ceremony.
Thielen led the Lady Broncos basketball team in scoring with 11.8 points per game last season. She averaged 16 points per game during her junior year at Wilson.
Anna is the daughter of Joey Thielen and Kelly Thielen. Her younger brother Sam is her second year student at RHS.
It was also recently announced that Anna Thielen has been awarded the Terry Ashida-Fields Memorial Scholarship from the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. Worth $200.
