Fall sports at Ohio high schools will change dramatically in 2024-2025 as the Ohio High School Athletic Association expands its divisions for boys soccer, girls soccer and volleyball.
The OHSAA announced in a news release Tuesday that soccer will move from Division 3 to Division 5 and volleyball will move from Division 4 to Division 7. The largest 64 schools will be placed in Division I, the next largest 64 schools will be placed in Division II, and the remaining schools will be split as evenly as possible among the other divisions.
Earlier this spring, OHSAA received basic enrollment data from the Ohio Department of Education consisting of students in grades 9, 10, and 11 as of October 2023 for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years. received. In addition to soccer, the fall sports of soccer and women's volleyball will utilize competitive balance data from previous seasons to create new adjusted enrollment numbers.
