Malibu, California – head coach Marcio Sicoli and his staff announced today that Marta Wildere will join the Pepperdine Beach Volleyball team's 2025 roster after recently signing her National Letter of Intent.
“Noel, Chris and I are very happy with Marta's efforts,” Ms Sicoli said. “Marta has impressed us both on and off the court, and we believe her work ethic and willingness to learn will have an immediate impact on our program.
Wildere is originally from Riga, Latvia and attended Riga French Lycée High School. During her high school days, she was always at the top of her class and her grades were always a 9 or 10 on her 10-point scale.
During his stay in Latvia, Wildere trained for two years at a club called Beach Box Gepardi, for which he has many achievements. In 2023 and 2024, he took 33rd place in the U21 World Championship, 5th place in the Latvian Championship, 2nd place in the U20 Riga Championship, was runner-up many times in the Lithuanian U20 Championship, and finished second in the Latvian Interschool Competition. won over.
She was a member of the Latvian national rhythmic gymnastics team from the age of 4 to 16 before taking up beach volleyball. Once she started playing beach volleyball, she not only found success on the sand, but she also fell in love with the game.
“I chose Pepperdine because I want to be challenged both academically and athletically, which will help me grow and develop in the future,” Wildere said. “I think Pepperdine is a really good location for this development.”
