Indianapolis –No. 2 UCLA (32-6) has earned the No. 2 seed for the 2024 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship, as announced by the NCAA Women's Beach Volleyball Committee Sunday morning at 8 a.m. Pacific Time.
The Bruins will play No. 15 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (28-9) on Friday, May 3rd at 1pm CT/11am PT. The Islanders are the same team the Bruins opened the 2023 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship with a year ago. The Bruins did not drop a set by the time the match was called, and he won the dual 3-0.
The Bruins have an overall record of 23-10 (.697) in the NCAA Tournament, and this will be UCLA's eighth NCAA Championship appearance. The Bruins won back-to-back NCAA championships in 2018 and 2019. UCLA has also finished within 2 seconds in his NCAA tournament history, twice he finished third and once he finished fifth.
The NCAA Women's Beach Volleyball Committee today announced the 17 teams that will compete in the 2024 NCAA Championship during a selection program streamed on NCAA.com.
Nine teams entered the tournament field as automatic qualifiers, along with eight teams selected from across the country. All 17 teams have now been seeded.
The Pac-12 Conference received a record six bids for the 2024 NCAA Championship.
The championship opener will be held on Friday, May 3, with the No. 16 and No. 17 seeds vying to face top-seeded USC. The remaining 16 seeds will compete in a single-elimination bracket May 3-5. The first round will be held on May 3rd, the quarterfinals and semifinals will be held on May 4th, and the championship dual will be held on May 5th. The championship will be held in Gulf Shores, Alabama and hosted by the city of Gulf Shores and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. and Gulf Shores | Orange Beach Sports and Events.
The event will be broadcast live by ESPN Networks, with ESPNU providing live coverage starting Friday, May 3 at 9 a.m. ET. Live coverage will continue on ESPN2 on Saturday, May 4th at 10am ET, and the Championship Dual will take place on Sunday, May 5th at 11am ET on ESPN.
