Alabama Basketball has acquired another guard.
According to On3.com, LaBaron Fearon has committed to join the Crimson Tide and Nate Oats after first signing his national letter of intent with Kansas State.
Fearon applied for release from the Jayhawks' NLI in late April. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 33 overall prospect and No. 3 point guard in the 2024 class.
He is a 6-foot-4, 177-pound guard who played at Link Academy in Branson, Missouri. Fearon is a native of Mobile, Alabama, and played at Baker High School, where he won Mr. Basketball. He then transferred to Link Academy for his senior season.
He originally committed to Auburn, but decommitted about a year ago. Alabama was also among his offers before he chose Kansas and signed his NLI.
The addition of Philon strengthens the point guard spot. Alabama also acquired former Auburn guard Aiden Holloway through the transfer portal in April. Mark Sears is eligible to return for one more season, but he declared for the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether he will be on the roster in 2024-2025.
