In a battle of Marion County rivals on Friday at Panther Drive, the Knoxville boys soccer team came out on top in a 2-1 boys soccer battle against Pella Christian. In fact, Camden Parker scored just after 7 o'clock for the Eagles to make it 1-0, but the Panthers tied the score just before halftime with Joseph Finnegan and Ezra Schmidt. That was all I could get. Just five minutes into the second half, the Panthers converted a penalty kick, giving them a one-point lead. Carson Cecil made six saves on the night. Coach Dylan Mick told KNIA/KRLS Sports that Cecil has been solid this season, but his defense has stepped up in key moments.
Mick: “The defense did their job and limited Albia to two penalty shots. Credit to that made his job easier.”
Pella Christian goaltender Keegan Fopma made seven saves. Knoxville is now 6-5 on the season and will play Chariton on Monday, while Pella Christian is currently 4-6 and will play crosstown rival Pella on Tuesday.
