Among the lighter slate of girls’ soccer games in the Downriver and Dearborn region Friday evening featured a non-conference matchup between Dearborn Edsel Ford and Grosse Ile.
A banged-up Edsel squad came into the battle looking to avoid consecutive losses for the first time all season after falling by a final score of 1-0 two days prior vs DRL foe Gibraltar Carlson. Meanwhile for Grosse Ile, they had won six of nine overall, having not lost since dropping their season opener vs Saline back on April 2.
That trend continued for the folks from the island, who with six goals in the second half secured an 8-0 victory with just over a minute to go in regulation against the visiting Thunderbirds from Edsel.
