ringle – People filled the Lingle-Fort Laramie (LFL) High School gymnasium to witness a significant event in sports history.
The talented LFL Lady Doggers and Doggers varsity team gave up space to a team of exceptionally talented players at the school's donkey basketball tournament on April 19th.
Donkey Basketball, sponsored by the LFL Student Council, featured creatures from the Wisconsin Dairyland Donkey Ball.
Although the donkeys were able to move well from one end of the court to the other, the players had trouble staying in their vehicles and getting the basketball into the hoop.
Loba often reminded his players to focus on the game with quick kicks and a few bucks, much to the delight of fans.
“Our goal was to bring something new, something fun and interesting to the community,” said LFL Student Council Advisor Erin Estes. “There’s so much value in coming together as a community and just having fun and relaxing.”
The event was a fundraiser for the LFL Student Council, and Mr Estes thanked the students, parents, staff and community members who made the night possible.
The night started with players from the Kicking Axes team facing off against It's On Like Donkey Kong. The final scoreboard was 16-2 in favor of Donkey Kong.
In the second game, the Bar Donk-A-Donks took to the court to take on the Jack Wagons. The Jack Wagons defeated Ba Donk-A-Donks 14-7.
The Jack Wagons advanced to the championship game and defeated the Donkey Congers by a large margin.
