Santa Monica, California – The 2024 West Coast Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament will be held at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica, California. The event will run from Thursday, April 25th to Friday, April 26th.
The tournament returns once again to Santa Monica, where all but one of the previous WCC beach volleyball tournaments have been held, except in 2021.
LMU is a four-time WCC champion since winning the inaugural title in 2019. The Lions defeated three-time champion Pepperdine to win their debut event in 2016 without dropping a single point, and went on to win back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018. The Lions defeated Pepperdine twice. They won the elimination match on the second day of the 2019 tournament, putting the Waves on top for three consecutive finals from 2021 to 2023.
In the latest AVCA poll, LMU enters the tournament ranked No. 10. Pepperdine started the season and ranked in the polls.
LMU (24-13) will enter the championship as the No. 1 seed after dominating CSUN and No. 10 Arizona in the final weekend of the regular season. The Lions won both regular season games against the Waves by scores of 4-1.
Second-seeded Pepperdine (19-14) enters championship weekend on a four-game winning streak.
Pepperdine owns much of its storied WCC postseason history with two AVCA National Championship wins in 2012 and 2014. The Waves participated in the National Championship four years in a row from 2016 to 2019, and gained attention by winning the NCAA runner-up in 2017. LMU defeated Hawaii in last season's WCC Championship and lost to eventual national champion USC in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
