Siegel's new girls basketball coach is no stranger to coaching in the Murfreesboro area.
On Tuesday, Brian Weekley was named coach of the Lady Stars, and Raymond Shutt returned to be an assistant on the Siegel boys staff after coaching for one season.
Weakley, 33, most recently served as Forest's men's basketball coach, leading the team to a 3-21 record last season.
Weekley served as an assistant women's basketball coach at Rockvale for three seasons (2020-23), working under Bill Hockenberry and with current Lady Rockets coach Perry Lyons. He also served as an assistant volleyball and softball coach at Rockvale.
“The familiarity for me is that I was on the girls side (at Rutherford County) for three years,” Weekley said. “I've obviously scouted Siegel a lot over the last three years. Murfreesboro is a competitive area. I'm excited about the fact that I get to coach with some of the best girls and some of the best coaches in the state. It's fun. For me. “
Weekley also served as an assistant boys coach at Stewarts Creek (2018-20), working under Dawn Berger and alongside current La Vergne boys coach Tony Rutland.
Shutt led the Lady Stars to a record of 9 wins and 19 losses, but his batting average hovered around .500 for most of the season until injuries ended his season during a nine-game losing streak. The team returns several starters, including all-area performer Issie Hodge.

“I feel like next year it's important to establish my culture and expectations and things like that,” Weakley said. “I want to do everything I can to give the seniors the opportunity to do well. At Forest I learned what patience is. Understanding that you're not going to have a really good team every year. “And you have to really focus on teaching kids the game of basketball.”
Weakley graduated from Hendersonville in 2009 and earned his degree from Tennessee State University in 2016.
