Conway, AR – The University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball team will be heading to Florida this week to participate in the ASUN tournament. The Bears finished the regular season this past weekend with their first home game in over two years. UCA enters this week with an 8-23 record, matching the 2023 team's win total.
The Bears lost three of four games at home and their only win came against Austin Peay for the second time this season. UCA was able to properly recognize three seniors who have done great work for the Bears, who have gone through many changes over the last four years. UCA will take control of the game in DeLand, Florida with the host Stetson Hatters. In 2023, the Hatters were crowned ASUN champions for the seventh time in program history. Now that they've performed the dance on the court, they're looking to repeat. Stetson continued his strong performance in 2023 and 2024, boasting a record of 19 wins and 10 losses to date.
The Hatters started the season with a perfect 4-0 weekend, including wins over Mercer, Southern Miss and Florida Gulf Coast. Throughout the next few weeks, Stetson had wins against Tampa, Louisiana-Monroe, and Santa Clara. Through 10 home games this season, Stetson has won nine of them, with key wins over Jacksonville, North Alabama, UNC Wilmington and Florida Atlantic, with its only loss coming in its most recent game. , which they lost to the No. 1 seed. ASUN Tournament, North Florida Ospreys. The Bears have only faced Stetson once before, losing 5-0 last season at the ASUN Tournament in Jacksonville.
