At the end of regulation, the score was tied at 2-2. Aldo Ortiz scored the winning goal in the shootout, and goaltender Clayton Bastings made a crucial stop to seal the Bruins' victory. “Clayton is quick in covering the ball, communicates very well and has safe hands,” Bruin coach Cedric Mutesi said. For the girls, Kyla Overton placed second in the shot put (34-6) and fourth in the discus (95-7). Lacey Nichols was third in the discus (106-8) and Eden McKinney was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.67 seconds. Kamryn Jones placed fourth in the long jump (14-6), and Londyn Bond placed fourth in the shot put (33-0.25).

The Lady Bruins (19-10) clinched home-field advantage for the regional playoffs on Tuesday. Owasso and Claremore rounded out the three-team tournament. At stake are states' rights. Bartlesville is expected to play in the championship game afterward with games scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Head coach Kyle Minton said the key to the Lady Bruins' victory will be to crush the ball offensively like they have so far this season.

Bartlesville teams were strong in their respective Muskogee tournaments. On the women's side, the Lady Bruins won the championship, led by No. 1 singles (Abby Shelley), No. 2 singles (Ava Kelly), and No. 1 doubles (Vera Gustafsson and Julia McKissic, Claire Auschwitz and Kate Craig). did. Wood hasn't played in a game since his freshman year, but his presence will lend status to Bartlesville's team. Meanwhile, the Bruin junior varsity team won the Sand Springs jayvee tournament last week. Bartlesville's performance included Carter Sauer (79), Hutson Coates (80), Damian Walker (82), Ethan Phelps (94) and Camden Jones (97).

The Doggers reached 20 wins (20-12) for the first time in at least six years and headed into the playoffs with momentum. They are 11-1 in their last 11 wins, including Friday's thrilling 11-10 win over Cassia Hall. Dewey was at a disadvantage with 8 wins and 3 losses, but then a major turnaround began. Zane Griggs hit a suicide squeeze bunt to home Parker Garrison for the final RBI. Dewey head coach Riley Allen called for a squeeze on a 3-and-1 pitch. Closer Levi Wilson grabbed the win. Griggs started on the bump, and Bryce Sickler pitched as a middle reliever to set up Wilson. Catching was done by Chase Miller. Easton Davis and Griggs both had three hits.

The Bruins (10-19) continue to have a tough run, but there's still time to turn things around. That U-turn quest begins this week. On Tuesday, Muskogee will visit Bartlesville for Senior Night. The ceremony will begin shortly after 5:30 p.m., followed by the game.
