Mark Pope has been making moves in the transfer portal, reportedly considering Kentucky as perhaps the best player in the mix.
According to J.J. Metz Atlantic guard Jonelle Davis of FAU Owls Nest, Florida, is considering Kentucky. Tolly Donovan then confirmed on Discord that Kentucky was participating.
Davis, a fourth-year player with one year of eligibility remaining, helped the Owls make a magical trip to the Final Four in 2023. That season, the 6-foot-4, 203-pound guard averaged 13.8 points on 48.6 percent shooting. He averaged 5.4 rebounds (35.7% from deep), 1.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Last season, Davis averaged 18.2 points, 48.3 percent shooting (41.7 percent from 3s), 6.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. He is CBS Sports' top-ranked transfer this season.
Initially, it was thought that Davis would follow former FAU head coach Dusty Maye to Michigan. But 247Sports' Travis Branham says that's no longer the case.
The Wildcats acquired center Amari Williams from Drexel and are in the process of acquiring forward Great Osobole from Utah State. However, it is unclear what backcourt options are considered likely. They've had contact with a lot of players, but in the public eye, there's not one player that they would think would be at or near the top.
Davis is certain to start in left field as there have been no reports of interest in him to date, but Mark Pope has been in contact with almost every notable transfer, so You can be confident that you have found a way to get in touch.
