There's a new name to watch in the transfer portal, and that's a big thing.
It has been confirmed that the Kentucky Wildcats and Mark Pope's staff have contacted Davon Smith.
The Utah Utes point guard is also being scouted by Villanova, Florida, St. John's, Miami, Louisville, Creighton and more.

Smith, who recently entered the portal, began his collegiate career at Mississippi State in 2020-21, then transferred to Georgia Tech for two seasons and finished last season at Utah. He will be back on the move next season as a fifth-year student.
Last season was the best year of his career for the 6-foot guard from Loganville (Ga.). He averaged 13.3 ppg and 7.1 assists per game last season for a Utes team that finished ninth in the PAC-12 with a 22-15 record. He also had 6.3 rebounds per game.
Smith led the conference in assists per game, but he also shot nearly 41 percent from behind the arc, compared to just 26 percent from 3-point range last season in Atlanta. This was a staggering increase.
Smith is one of the better point guards to hit the portal, along with Mark Pope's Javon Small.
In Smith's final game at the University of Utah, against Indiana State in the NIT semifinals, he recorded 28 points, seven rebounds, and six assists against the Sycamores.
If you want to strengthen your backcourt, look no further than Davon Smith for a jump start.
