CLEMSON โ Clemson basketball's Chase Hunter announced Wednesday that he will enter the NBA draft while maintaining his college eligibility after helping the Tigers advance to the Elite Eight.
“I took some time to reflect on my career and have decided to remain eligible and enter the NBA Draft,” Hunter said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
In his fifth season at Clemson, Hunter averaged 12.9 points, 42.4 percent shooting, 3.2 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in 36 games. He was named to the 2024 NCAA Tournament All-West Team, averaging 17.8 points, 5.8 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2 steals in four games.
The Atlanta native led the Tigers to victories over New Mexico and Baylor in the first two rounds of March Madness. He had 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the Sweet 16 against Arizona. He was also tasked with guarding elite scorers like Jacoby Walter, Caleb Love, and Mark Sears throughout the tournament.
Hunter had until April 27th at 11:59 p.m. to enter his name into the NBA Draft. If he returns to Clemson, he can withdraw from the draft by May 29th at 11:59 p.m., just like P.J. Hall did last year.
On “Road Rage with Walt Deptula” on April 4, Clemson coach Brad Brownell said Hunter could return for a sixth season.
The 15-year Tigers coach, who acquired former Cincinnati transfer forward Victor Raquin earlier Wednesday, is awaiting a decision by Hunter and All-ACC forward P.J. Hall on what the 2024-25 roster will look like.
