The Lumberjacks defeated Hudson's Bay 2-0 in a men's soccer game Monday, earning them a 2A Greater St. Helens League win on the road.
The Eagles entered the game on a four-game winning streak, including wins over Ridgefield and undefeated Columbia River, but RA Long had other plans to start this week.
The Jacks grabbed control of the ball early, but were unable to break through Hudson's Bay's defense for most of the first half. Finally, Liam Hendrickson was able to fire a shot into the top left corner of the net from 15 yards with 32 minutes remaining, giving the visiting team the advantage before the break.
“They were running pretty hard, so it was important to put some distance between us,” RA Long coach Max Anderson said.
The Jacks' defense was on high alert for much of the second half, fighting to protect a one-point lead. By the end, goaltender Raul Sanchez and RA Long's defense had secured their sixth shutout win of the season.
