Scotts Valley soccer talent Matteo Carbone has signed an academy contract to play for Project 51O, the community-based development team of USL Championship Second Division team Oakland Roots SC.
The 21-year-old defender from Fiorentina, Cosenza and Scotts Valley High will wear No. 65 for the first team.

APSE National Contest: Associated Press sports editors last week released their rankings of the winners of the annual national contest. Judging took place remotely at the APSE 2024 Winter Conference in Lake Buena Vista, Florida in February.
Winners will be recognized at the conclusion of the APSE Summer Conference, June 20-22 at the Marriott South Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.
