Coaches and players showed various schemes and plays and answered questions.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. โ Memphis football hosted a women's clinic called “Saturday with Silverfield.”
Coaches and players were on site to show their support and chat with the women about the game.
They carried out training, presented different plans and provided a safe space where women felt comfortable asking questions and talking about soccer.
“As a woman in sports, I know how much I've loved sports since I was a kid, so I want to have an evening dedicated to them,” said Rebecca Allen, Memphis Football and Recruiting Management Coordinator. It's important that we have a lot of other fans.” . “Women who come to this event are encouraged to talk more about what they know and ask questions like, 'Why did you make this play during this game instead of talking about this play in public?' can.”
Tonia Hanson, a Memphis football fan, said, “I think there are more women out there who haven't really been involved in football. It's not very scary and they learn things they might not otherwise hear. It's a really fun and easy way to do that.”
The event also featured food and drinks, a silent auction, and gifts and giveaways.
Afterward, the players held a Q&A with all the women to learn more about the game and their lives.
Memphis football is preparing for the spring game on April 20th.
