Sweetwater County โ Each team faced stiff competition in this week's Sweetwater County soccer action, with all but one team ranked for the week.
The Lady Tigers struggled to come away with a win in two games despite a solid defensive effort. On Friday, they played to a 0-0 tie with Natrona County. The Kelly Walsh girls team won 2-0 on Saturday.
The Rock Springs boys team defeated Natrona County, the only unranked opponent of the week, 2-0 on Friday. Goals from Alex Herrera in the 25th minute and Carlos Macias in the 26th sealed the victory. In Saturday's game against Kelly Walsh, Rock Springs lost 2-1 on a penalty kick by Cristian Perez in the 42nd minute. Rock Springs also stopped two penalty kicks by Kelly Walsh.

On Friday, the Green River girls team won a hard-fought game against Powell, 4-3, with Powell tying the score at 3-3 with two minutes remaining, and winning the shootout 4-3. Isa Basco scored all three goals for the Lady Wolves. The boys team also won 3-0 against Powell. Max Hintz took the lead just 10 minutes into the game when he deflected a toss-in off the goalkeeper's hands and scored. Braxton Doak and Christian Lee also added to the tally.
On Saturday, the Lady Wolves lost 5-0 against the undefeated, top-ranked Cody Phillies. However, the boys team prevailed over No. 2 Cody, with Stone Lubeck tying the score with 90 seconds left in the first half, and the game was tied 1-1 at halftime. Strong defensive performances from both teams led to a shootout, with Green River winning 5-3 and ultimately winning 2-1.
