To enhance Martin's athletics facilities, the university hired a firm that designed structures used for the NASCAR viewing area in downtown Chicago, as well as temporary seating, staging and structures for the university's collegiate athletics events. Construction is scheduled to begin early this summer, and the facility is expected to remain operational through the 2025 season.

Expanding the number of seats for home games will help strengthen top lacrosse teams. This season, which ends before construction of the temporary facility, six of the seven home lacrosse games were sold out.

Hosting the majority of home football games on the Evanston campus will also benefit nearby businesses, boosting business downtown and on Central Street on game day.
“We are excited about Northwestern University's decision to hold the majority of its home football games in temporary facilities on campus,” said Valerie Romano, president of the Evanston Chamber of Commerce. “The Evanston Chamber of Commerce fully supports this idea and looks forward to the increased business activity it will bring to downtown Evanston.”
