The fun wasn't just at Gampel Pavilion as the UW men's basketball team competed for the NCAA Championship.
A nearby bar was filled with students attending a viewing party, many hoping to witness the back-to-back championships in person.
Every time UConn scored a point, there was a roar in bars across Husky nation.
“We feel good. We've been watching Purdue all year and they only have one big man and I don't think they can beat us,” junior Sergio Ramani said. .
Some seniors are optimistic about their chances of witnessing the men's basketball team win back-to-back titles.
“It's going to be a really good end to the year,” said fourth-grader Caroline Jaenig.
Students rushed to the viewing party.
“I can't even explain it. When I was choosing colleges, I was like, I love sports. I love the energy it brings,” said fourth-year Jenna DeFronzo.
Huskies Bar and Tavern and Ted's were both sold out.
“The biggest fans, the best fans, all in one bar,” said Ted's manager Ryan Steinman.
“It's nice to see this game for the second year in a row. Hopefully we can pull it off with a win,” said Huskies Restaurant & Bar bouncer Brendan Carew.
As for the atmosphere after the game, we are looking forward to the enthusiasm of the students.
“Back to back, people might get a little weird, but I don’t know,” junior Elijah Daniels said.
Many hope that damage to the campus is kept to a minimum and that spirits remain high.
“I feel like they definitely got the security this year,” Jaenig said of college preparation.
