Colleyville Heritage 6, Amarillo 1
WICHITA FALLS – Addison Simic scored a hat trick and Colleyville Heritage continued to improve in the second half, winning 6-1 against Amarillo in Tuesday's Region I-5A semifinal at Memorial Stadium.
Heritage (22-0-2) will play either Wichita Falls Rider or Lubbock Coronado in the Region I-5A final at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the winner advancing to the Class 5A state tournament.
Simic scored his first goal of the match in the 25th minute, converting a rebound that hit the crossbar into the net.
“I saw the ball deflected and I wanted to put it in the back of the net,” Simic said. “I just charged the ball and put it in.”
Simic's other goals, scored in the 52nd and 58th minutes, both came about in a similar fashion. In fact, most of Heritage's records came from rebounds.
“There were a lot of fights today,” Simic said. “I think that really helped us get all the goals. We were following up after every shot. It was really surprising how many deflections we had. Usually they're in the back of the net. But I really wanted that today.”
Allie Love cleared on the right side in the 31st minute without needing a rebound and fired a shot inside the near post. Heritage held Amarillo without a shot on goal in the first half and held a 2-0 advantage by halftime.
After consecutive goals from Simic made it 4-0, Ashlyn Bringedahl added another goal in the 60th minute. Kayla Dolbin scored for Heritage in the 64th minute.
Lily Cook scored Amarillo's only goal in the 67th minute.

Class 5A Area II
Frisco Reedy 3, McKinney North 0
CARROLLTON – Kennedy-Wilkinson felt a sense of panic Friday in the moments leading up to his team's Class 5A Region II semifinal game against McKinney North. Fortunately for the Frisco Reedy goaltender, she also had the knowledge on how to deal with it and make clutch plays happen.
Wilkinson had a clean sheet with six saves as Reedy defeated McKinney North 3-0 at Standridge Stadium. Her best and most important save was her first save, which was the most dramatic play of the game. Two minutes into the game, North's Mary Beth Kessler came off a steal, but her ensuing shot was denied by Wilkinson's kick save. Reedy fought back with three goals in the first half, her first goal coming in the seventh minute when Zahra Jacobs scored her 18th goal of the season from 10 yards to go.
“When she stole base, I was pretty nervous. I was pretty nervous, but I knew if I worked hard I could win,” Wilkinson said. “I opted for a kick save because if I had gone for the diving ball, she could have easily tipped it over me.”
Wilkinson also made a jumping grab early in the second half to stop a burst from 30 yards out. Reedy (18-6-3) advances to Saturday's championship, which begins at 10 a.m. at Standridge Stadium.
Reedy, ranked No. 10 in the Dallas Morning News Class 5A/Other Area Poll, advanced to the regional final round for the second straight season. This is the second consecutive season that North (15-6-2) has been eliminated in the regional semifinals.
Reedy was unusually efficient at producing goals, scoring his first three goals on his first three shots. In the 13th minute, Mahika Mediratta chipped in Lily Troiano's pass from the right side to make it 2-0. Emma Taylor made it 3-0 in the 29th minute with a blast from 25 yards out.
