At Duncan Soccer, both teams entered spring break with the same record of 3 wins and 3 losses, with the Lady Demons now 1-1 and the Demons 2-0 for the second straight game.
The four games also included a non-district final, where the Lady Demons defeated Lawton High School 6-1 and the Demons won 4-0.
In the district opener at home, the Lady Demons struggled against the Noble Lady Bears, winning 1-0. The final game was decided in a penalty shootout, with the Demons defeating Noble 3-2.
The Lady Demons played against Lawton High School and had six different players contribute in goals. Emma Lucido, Adriana Riveros, Sydney Miller, Emily Hallford, Caitlin Ramirez and Chesney Roberson all got one point past the Lawton High School goalie.
The Lady Demons, playing their first district tournament of the season, went down on a well-placed free kick in the first half, but struggled to get their offense back on track in the second half.
Ramirez and senior Alyssa Harvey's shots were almost on target. However, the Lady Demons lost a close game and will have to wait until next week to earn a win for first place in the district.
Landon Holthaus started the week big for the Demons by scoring two goals in a 4-0 win against Lawton High School. Joining him were Alex Delgado and Adel Mohammed, who each scored one goal.
The win improved the Demons' record to 4-3, and Holthaus wasted no time in the District 1 game against Noble. Eight minutes into the game, the Demons had a 1-0 lead.
A penalty kick tied the game at 1-1 going into the second half, but Delgado's goal gave the Demons a start in the second half.
Four minutes into the second half, Delgado broke free and was fouled in the box, setting up a penalty kick. He scored this and took a 2-1 lead.
Late in the second half, Noble scored the tying goal. The Demons and Bears fought two overtimes, with the score remaining deadlocked at 2-2.
Noble took the first shot of the penalty kick, and it hit the post. Mohamed then converted his first penalty, giving Duncan a 1-0 lead.
Israel Hernandez scored his second try to extend the lead to 2-1, then Holthaus scored his third try for a 3-2 lead.
Noble tried to start the fourth round of penalty kicks, but his shot went wide of the frame, clinching the victory for Duncan and improving the Demons' season record to 5-3 and 1-0 in district play. .
Duncan soccer will start playing road games next week. The Lady Demons will play at McAlester on April 2 at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's team that night at 7:30 p.m.
The Demons' next home game will be April 4, when the soccer team hosts MacArthur at 6 p.m.
