“We had an impromptu scrimmage thinking we finished well today,” the fourth-year head coach said. blake anderson. “We have been breaking up our practices into smaller parts, but we felt that taking practice outside and playing 11-on-11 would be a good decision to judge where we are right now in which areas. But we made some good plays. We turned the ball around too much.” “So, I'm rooting for the defense to turn it around. I was frustrated with the offense, but we got to the end zone a few times. Minus-20 each time. , it's hard to do that when you're starting the ball at 30. We'll learn from that.
“Overall, I love the culture in the locker room and the willingness of these players to learn. The defensive staff has done a good job of getting to know them, and some of the new players we've added on the offensive end. I think so. “We'll see what kind of impact it's having. I'm excited to see what it's going to be like when we know what we're doing.” .”

Utah State returns nine starters and 23 lettermen on the offensive line, adding nine rookies in addition to 12 redshirts and four more varsity men from last season, and Anderson will join the team this spring. , I like what I've seen with that group so far.
“We've added some key attacking players in important positions. We're doing a lot in a short period of time, but I think we're making good progress. What's great is the players we've brought in so far. I think all of them are great. Once they're in, we'll see how they impact the offense and make us better,” Anderson said.
Defensively, Utah State welcomes 19 new players in addition to seven starters and 19 lettermen, plus 13 redshirts and four squad members returning from last year's group.
“The whole defense is new in a lot of ways. There are some players you know, but I'm really happy with as many new players as we've brought in, not to mention a brand new defensive staff.” We have a long way to go, but I love that they come to work every day, listen, and have positive energy. We have people who are striving to provide leadership in different rooms. So I think everything is pointing to something good happening,'' Anderson added.

As for the staff, Anderson added six new coaches this winter, including five on defensive end, and is excited about what that group will bring to the team.
“They have positive energy in the building and they're actually teaching and spending time with their peers, which is necessary for a lot of change. We're always talking about low self-esteem. , leaving their egos at the door and just coming in ready to do the job, “I feel like we bring that out of everyone, and it shows on the field.'' I have good, solid energy when I go to work every day,” Anderson said.
