UCLA Bruins defensive edge rusher Laiatu Latu has been making all kinds of noise throughout the NFL Draft process as he is projected to be taken within the first round. Latu shined during his time with the Bruins, helping the Bruins develop into one of the best defenses in the nation.
As his sack totals over the past few seasons have proven, he has a special ability to get close to the quarterback and disrupt the offense's game plan in the backfield. In two years at UCLA, Latu totaled 23.5 sacks in 15 games. Last season alone, he had 13 sacks and 49 total tackles, 21.5 of which were for a loss.
Although his tape may never fade from the pages, Latu is an excellent soccer player. Whichever team drafts him will likely be getting a player with a shoulder injury. He is ready to work hard to become a great player.
The Los Angeles Rams are selecting Latu in NFL.com writer Eric Edholm's latest NFL mock draft. In this scenario, Los Angeles traded down the No. 24 pick to the Dallas Cowboys to select UCLA's star defensive player.
“It's not possible to replace Aaron Donald, but instead the Rams may look to address their pass rush unit differently. Latu's injury history is concerning for a first-round pick, but With his hard work and technical savvy, it will be possible.” He will be of great value if he stays on the field.”
The Rams just lost legendary Aaron Donald to retirement and will be looking to replace him. It's unfair to compare Latu to Donald, but he could come in and help ease the transition after Donald leaves.
A move to the Rams could be a perfect fit for Latu as it would allow him to stay closer to home. He could also learn under head coach Sean McVay, who many believe to be one of the top coaches in the NFL.
The UCLA faithful will be watching closely to see where Latu lands in this draft. They supported him throughout his NFL career and expect him to replicate what they've seen every time.
