The Jackson State football team will host its annual Blue and White Spring Game at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on April 6 at 3 p.m.
This will be Tigers football coach TC Taylor's second spring game and the second for former coach Deion Sanders, who has been away for another year. The 2023 scrimmage limited contact due to roster size.
JSU finished Taylor's first season with a 7-4 record. Jackson State finished in second place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference East Division.
The Tigers' offense has a strong core with the return of quarterback Jacobean Morgan, who transferred from Syracuse. He started the final four games of the season and was named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for consecutive weeks.

Fabian McCray, Morgan's top target from 2023, also returns. He finished fourth in the SWAC in receptions with 41 receptions for 584 yards and four touchdowns.
Jackson State returns running back Irv Mulligan, who ran for 674 yards and five touchdowns in eight games. Mulligan led the SWAC through the first six weeks of the season, but injured his ankle in the homecoming game against Alabama State and missed the remainder of the season.
Defensively, the Tigers will need to replace linebacker Isaac Peppers, who finished 16th in the SWAC in tackles and led JSU in sacks four times. The defense took a backseat to its strong attack, leading the SWAC with 17 interceptions.
