The 2024 high school football playoffs began with the bi-district round on Monday and Tuesday. The winners traveled to the area Thursday through Saturday.
The regional quarterfinals will be held April 1-2, the regional semifinals and finals will be held April 5-6, and the state tournament will be held April 10-13.
Below are the results of the girls' bi-district playoff games for Dallas area teams, and here are the boys' results.
Southlake Carroll 7, Crowley 0: Southlake Carroll lost only one game in 2022, outscoring its opponents 100-16 along the way, winning the Class 6A state championship and finishing with a 22-1-4 record. That team was led by freshman superstar Kennedy Fuller, who now plays professionally for Angel City FC in the National Women's Soccer League.
Fuller would have been on this year's team if she hadn't graduated early and graduated in 2 1/2 years. But despite being without one of the best players to ever play in the Dallas area, Carroll has been even more dominant this season than it was two years ago.
Penn State four-star sophomore Kamdyn Fuller and four-star Hannah Jordan each scored three goals as the state's No. 1 ranked Class 6A team defeated Crowley in Tuesday's Class 6A bi-district playoff game. Ta. Carroll scored four points in the second half, and freshman Presley Wilkerson added the winning goal.
Carroll (22-0-1), a three-time state champion, is looking for another playoff spot after outscoring opponents 148-14 and reaching the 6A Region I final last season. Kennedy's sister, Camdyn Fuller, has 37 goals and Jordan has 26 goals.
Prosper 2, Coppell 1 (OT): North Texas signee Beya Rosales scored off a rebound with 35 seconds left in the second overtime period as the area's 10th-ranked 6A team escaped with a first-round playoff victory. Baylor signee Olivia Hess took the corner kick that led to the winning goal, and Sanford signee Brooklyn Miller assisted on the play.
Prosper (20-2-2), which is 6-0-1 in its past seven games, took a 1-0 lead on Hess' goal. Coppell equalized with a goal from Nerali Kapadia.
Prosper, the No. 2 seed in District 5-6A, advanced to play Arlington, the District 8-6A champion.
Arlington 3, Irving MacArthur 2 (OT): Mayra Dawkins scored the winning goal in the second overtime, improving Arlington's record to 21-1-1. Arlington, ranked No. 2 in the state by the Texas Women's Coaches Association, had goals in regulation from Dawkins and Christina Alvarez.
MacArthur (16-6-2) had goals from Melanie Centeno and Jessica Perez.
Hebron 3, Denton Geyer 2 (SO): After the game was tied 2-2 after regulation time and two overtimes, Hebron defeated Geyer 4-3 in the penalty shootout, with Tati Diaz scoring the winning goal.
Hebron (17-3-4), ranked No. 8 in the 6A area, tied the game on Leah Simpson's header with 30 seconds left in regulation. Hebron's other goal was scored by Jordan Hill.
Flower Mound 4, McKinney Boyd 2: Pepperdine commit Isabella Larson and Mississippi State commit Jalen Chaney each scored two goals, helping the region's third-place 6A team advance.
Haley Peek had two assists for Flower Mound, with Allie Pinto for Notre Dame and Audrey Burney for UT Tyler committing to other assists.
Prosper Walnut Grove 2, The Colony 0: In the first-ever playoff game, District 10-5A champion Walnut Grove shut out The Colony in a Class 5A bi-district game, improving to 20-1-2.No.6 team of dallas morning news5A-Other Area Rankings took a 1-0 lead on an own goal for The Colony, and Quinn Wolfe added a goal with an assist from Gianna Wilbur, which accounted for all of the first half's points.
Colleyville Heritage 4, Midlothian Heritage 1: Rice signee Allie Love had two goals and one assist as the state's No. 5 5A team advanced. Addison Simic also scored two goals for Colleyville Heritage (19-0-2) and Addison Bizjak also had an assist.
Forney 2, Princeton 0 (OT): Freshman Addison Smith scored both goals – one in the first overtime period and the other in the second – as the region's No. 5 5A team advanced to Round 2. Smith's second goal was a header off a corner kick by sophomore Madalin. Putnam.
Frisco Wakeland 4, Frisco Lebanon Trail 0: Goals from Sophia Rodriguez, Morgan Landry, Daley Voss and Audrey Gilbert helped Wakeland stay undefeated and improve to 20-0-2. Wakeland, ranked No. 1 in the region and No. 8 in the state in 5A, advances to play WT White at Clark Stadium in Plano on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Lake Highlands 4, Arlington Lamar 0: Dani Champ, Caitlin Hoppers, Lyla Brackin and Ashlyn Steele scored goals as Lake Highlands (17-4-2) advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Hoppers, Dennis Garcia and Casey Corcoran had assists.
Joshua 1, Grapevine 0 (SO): Joshua won the shootout and eliminated defending 5A state champion Grapevine in the first round. Joshua has moved on to face Justin Northwest.
Selina 3, Sunnyvale 0: Celina shut out Sunnyvale and began its quest for a third consecutive Class 4A state title. Celina (20-2-2), the District 11-4A champion and ranked No. 7 in the area, has won 13 straight games and is shutout in its last 10 games.
Lovejoy 10, Terrell 0: The 5A team, ranked No. 9 in the state, won the bi-district championship with Bailey Nietherlin and Emma Nelson each scoring two goals. Kenzie Lavender, Kylie Ziubinski, Brenna Wallace, Ella York, Natalie Knight and Katie Mitchell also scored.
Hillcrest 5, West Mesquite 0: District 11-5A champion Hillcrest crushed West Mesquite with two second-half goals from Leslie Lazo and an extra point from Kamryn Martinez after halftime. Hillcrest advanced to play Frisco Reedy, ranked No. 10 in the 5A Other Area rankings.
