Coach Friels: Scott will be a valuable resource for our scholar-athletes.
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech head coach Katie Friels announced the hiring of Scott Wilson as the new assistant coach for the women's soccer program.
“We are excited to welcome Scott to our team and integrate him into the Florida Tech family,” Friels said. “Scott will be a valuable addition to our scholar-athlete team with his impressive experience and international background, both playing and coaching.
“Scott's contagious personality, enthusiasm and passion for the game stand out to me, but more importantly, he understands the interpersonal element of coaching and makes a difference in the lives of our scholar-athletes. It’s about bringing.”
Wilson comes to Florida Tech in December 2022 after serving as interim women's soccer head coach at Lake Erie College, a Division II program in Paynesville, Ohio, and a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G). -MAC) is also a member. In the 2023 season, he led the Storm to the program's most wins in a single season since 2019.

Prior to his tenure as interim head coach, Wilson served as a graduate assistant at Lake Erie, where he helped recruit players, run practices and camps, and was responsible for managing the team's social media accounts.
Prior to joining the Lake Erie staff, Wilson was a member of the University of Wisconsin-Superior men's soccer team from 2019 to 2021, starting 49 total games as part of the Yellow Jackets' back line. He played more than 3400 minutes on the pitch, scored 8 goals and recorded 8 assists in total.
Wilson, a two-time team captain at the University of California, Superior, helped lead the Yellow Jackets to three consecutive United Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season and tournament titles and two appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Did. Wilson, who was named the 2021 UMAC Defender of the Year, earned three All-Conference honors, one All-Region honor and was named Academic All-Conference five times.
Mr. Wilson will graduate from UC Superior with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in May 2022 and will earn a Master of Business Administration degree from Lake Erie in April of this year.
