Port Vale have parted ways with director of football David Flitcroft after three years at Burslem.
The 50-year-old former Chester, Rochdale and Bury winger joined Bale in February 2021 having previously managed Barnsley, Bury, Swindon and Mansfield.
Bale will be promoted from English football's fourth tier for the third time in 2022.
However, although they reached the quarter-finals of this season's Carabao Cup, they slumped in Ligue 1, and are in 23rd place, six points behind the safety zone after 37 games.
After winning six of their first seven league games this season, Bale have continued to struggle, winning just two of their next 30 games.
Manager Andy Crosby was sacked on February 5, but Bale have continued their desperate run under his successor, Darren Moore, with only two points out of a possible 24 so far. I haven't been able to do it.
Moore joined on an unusually long-term contract of five-and-a-half years, but Vale fans were openly hostile towards Flitcroft, the younger brother of former Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers and England U-21 international midfielder Garry Flitcroft. is directed towards.
“Port Vale can confirm that David Flitcroft has resigned from his role as Director of Football,” Vale said in a club statement.
“The decision was mutual.
“Further updates will be provided in due course, but we remain focused on maintaining our place in League One as we prepare for this weekend's game against Burton Albion.”
Bale will be hoping to end their current 14-game winless run against Burton, who are fourth in the table and six points above them.
