LAWRENCE (KSNT) – The Jayhawks are in the process of building, both literally and figuratively.
KU is building a reimagined David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. But while construction continues, players and coaches continue to work on building the program itself.
Kansas football began spring practice on Tuesday.
“I'm happy with the first day,” head coach Lance Leipold said. “He had a great attitude and ran around a lot.”
Leipold noted that the university held most of its 2023 spring practices indoors. He said it felt good to be outside Tuesday.
“Our staff did a great job adapting to the construction work and all the other little things we asked them to do,” he said.

In addition to construction and stadium renovations, there will also be adjustments related to staff changes. Most notably, KU has added a new offensive coordinator in Jeff Grimes. Grimes is getting used to the way KU operates while also bringing new ideas.
“He's learning in a way, too,” Leipold said. [we want to] Let's somehow get him to endorse this criminal act. ”
Coach Leipold said Tuesday he has acquired “some” varsity players as senior quarterback Jaron Daniels returns from a season-ending injury in 2023.
“I'm really happy with the way he's throwing the ball,” Leipold said. “He was definitely getting representation here.”
KU will continue its spring practice on Wednesday and will host its spring showcase at Rock Chalk Park on April 12 at 7 p.m.
