Tweaks and changes continue to be made with the University of Northern Colorado football staff.
The Bears, who begin spring practice next week, recently added a coach to Ed Lamb's staff and changed the title of another coach.
JB Hall Jr. has been hired as the Bears' defensive pass game coordinator and safeties coach.
James Pazak will be named special teams coordinator. Pazzak, who joined the Ram staff in December 2022, previously served as the linebackers and safeties coach.
Michael Smith, who previously served as the Bears' associate head coach, special teams coordinator and running backs coach, has left the program for another coaching position.
In late February, Lamb hired former BYU player Mike Rigel as the Bears' wide receivers coach to add stability to the receiver room.
Lamb announced other changes and reorganizations to the coaching staff in mid-January, including:
Defensive coordinator Preston Hadley has added coaching the Bears' linebackers to his list of responsibilities. Aaron Fernandez was named assistant head coach and added the title of NFL liaison while continuing to coach the defensive line. Nick Nissen switched from tight end to offensive line, and Spencer Patterson switched from offensive line to tight end.
Lamb promoted Justin Walterscheid to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the end of 2023, replacing Blair Peterson, who left the program for another job. (Link). Walterscheid served as UNC's special teams coach in 2023.
