Former U.S. Women's National Soccer Team star Megan Rapinoe will have her No. 15 jersey retired by the time she takes over in Seattle.
The National Women's Soccer League club announced Thursday that it will celebrate the career of Rapinoe, who retired last year at age 38, on Aug. 25 when the Reign plays against North Carolina Courage.
Rapinoe was one of three players to wear a Seattle uniform from her team debut in 2013 until the 2023 season. Her jersey is only her second to be retired by her team in the NWSL.
“I have lived a long life wearing this jersey, and I am humbled to see it retired with me,” Rapinoe said in a statement. “It represents much more than myself, the team, the city and a lifetime of memories.”
