Former WVU women's soccer backliner Jordan Brewster is returning to the United States to continue her professional soccer career.
Bay Football Club, an expansion team in the NWSL that will play its first season in 2024, announced Monday that it has signed Brewster to a contract through the 2025 season with an option for 2026. She joins Bay FC after spending last season at Kristianstad. DFF of Sweden's Damorsvenskan.
“Jordan is a player we have watched and watched develop during his time in Sweden,” Bay FC general manager Lucy Rushton said in the team's official release. “Not only is she an athletic defender with great speed, but she has the technical ability and passing range to help us play from the back and control the game in possession. “Her time in Sweden exposed her to a style of soccer that matches our style of soccer, and we are pleased to have her on our roster. He will help us continue to grow and establish our football identity.”
The North Canton, Ohio, native finished her distinguished career as a Mountaineer in 2022, appearing in 101 games as WVU's program leader. Her senior season was also her third All-American season as she led WVU to a conference title on the highlight reel. She scored a valuable goal from her own end in overtime in the Big 12 Tournament final against top-seeded TCU. She was also named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season.
Brewster was not selected in the 2022 NWSL Draft out of West Virginia.
Bay FC also invited WVU graduate and former Mountaineers defenseman Maddie Morrow to preseason camp in January, but she is not on the team's official roster.
