Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard believes last season's disappointing results have had a positive impact on this year's team.
Last season, Arsenal defeated Leeds United 4-1 on April 1, putting them eight points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, but second-placed City had played one less game.
However, Mikel Arteta's side, on a seven-game winning streak in the Premier League, could only win two of their next eight games, leaving City with a few games to spare to be crowned league champions.
Arsenal are once again at the top of the Premier League table but lost 1-0 in the first leg in Portugal last month and will face Porto in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie on Tuesday.
“First of all, we are a better team,'' Odegaard told reporters on Monday. “We have signed good players, but we also have the experience we learned last season and we have We have used it in a good way.” Our bond and team spirit is incredible.
“Playing in the team is the best I've ever had in my life. We definitely have something special and you'll see it more and more on the pitch. How are they working in relation to each other?”
When asked how he kept his composure as he captained his side in the knockout stages of the Champions League and competed for the league title, Odegaard replied: “I don't think about it too much. Get into the zone and do it in a natural way. I love playing soccer and I love playing this game. We're all very excited to be playing another big game at home. That's the main emotion, excitement and doing what we always do, playing our game and focusing on ourselves. I think it's going to be a good night. ”
