Real Madrid were the subject of an investigation revealed by the Spanish Football Federation earlier this week.
First, they use television stations to broadcast documentaries. The videos criticize the “misjudgment” of the referee who will be in charge of the next match.
Sevilla were the first team to lodge a complaint with the federation, adding fuel to a long-standing dispute over the issue.
A few days ago, the RFEF's competition committee approved their request after some tinkering with an initial rejection.
Before each La Liga game, Sevilla lodged a formal complaint about the hit piece against the officials. Their aim is to prevent La Liga's powerhouses from putting pressure on referees.
Sevilla lodged a protest before the match on February 25, and the Rojiblancos launched an investigation into the matter. They claim that the video, which is “played extensively on television just before each match, seeks to create an image of a lack of professionalism and anti-Madridism”.
The film caused a stir on social media, but Real Madrid TV viewers were downright miserable. They also contributed to the club's 'victim narrative', as seen in the report against Valencia.
Sevilla's camp claimed that the videos hinted at prejudice against them. They also believe the video makes matches more stressful by making supporters believe that.
New scandalous video released
However, club officials reportedly have no plans to impose any disciplinary action. The channel is officially operated by a private media company, but its content is aimed at Real Madrid supporters. This eliminates any possibility of disciplinary action against the club. That is, unless the Competition Commission finds evidence of controversial decision-making by La Liga leaders.
Carlo Ancelotti's team are therefore reportedly not worried about this ongoing investigation as they believe they have the right to do so. According to Diario AS, they have released a new video featuring referee Mario Melero López, who was in charge of Sunday's game against Celta Vigo.
Among Melero López's “mistakes” revealed by Real Madrid TV was his decision not to award a penalty against Eduardo Camavinga's challenge. The incident occurred during the previous match against Rayo Vallecano, when he was serving as the video assistant referee for the contest.
Real Madrid gives the answer on the field
Meanwhile, Los Blancos answered all questions regarding their off-field actions with a 4-0 win against Celta Vigo. This ended the winning streak at two games.
The Whites got off to a good start, scoring the opening goal just before half-time. Vinicius scored with his second shot after Antonio Rudiger's header was well saved by Vicente Guaita. Although Celta Vigo's attacking threat increased in the 45th minute of the second half, it was Ancelotti's team who scored more goals.
Rudiger was active again in the second half, this time with a header that beat the hapless Guaita to make the score 2-0. Substitute Carlos Dominguez scored the third own goal by slotting the ball into his own net at the far post.
There was still time on his side when Arda Güler scored Real Madrid's opening goal. His great talent allowed him to dribble past Guaita and score into the back of the net.
