As part of Essex Cricket’s ongoing commitment to championing women and girls in sport, the club has proudly entered into a partnership with anti-sexism campaigning organization, Her Game Too.
The campaign was originally founded by 12 female football fans in May 2021 and expanded to include cricket a year later, with the message that sexism cannot and will not be tolerated in sport.
Her Game Too aims to tackle sexism in cricket, promote inclusion and encourage women and girls to participate in all capacities, and aims to spread the message that cricket is Her Game Too That's what I mean.
The organization also uses its own channels to advocate for women and girls in sport, highlighting achievements and encouraging people to get involved themselves.
Within this partnership, the clubs are committed to collaborating on campaigns to achieve the shared aim of increasing the participation of women and girls and championing female role models.
The partnership will also be extended to local communities, with the aim of linking with work already being done to promote women’s safety and foster the growth of women’s recreational cricket.
John Stephenson, Chief Executive of Essex Cricket, said: “As a club we are extremely proud to partner with such a pioneering organization as Her Game Too.
“The women's game in England has grown tremendously in recent years and we are committed to ensuring that this continues.
“This partnership highlights our continued commitment to promoting, growing and championing women and women’s cricket, and we are excited about the future of it.”
Paige Cornes, director of cricket, and Lucy Ford, director and co-founder of Her Game Too, added: “Her Game to Cricket is delighted to be partnering with Essex County Cricket Club.
“It is important for the cricket community as the game moves towards a more inclusive future, from fans and volunteers to players and counties coming together.
“By partnering with Essex CCC, we are furthering our partnership with clubs across the game, and as we strive to make cricket a safer and more welcoming environment for everyone, this is a great addition to Her Game. It's a big moment for Two Cricket.
“The county has done some great work within the community to encourage women and girls to take part in cricket and to recognize the importance of creating a safe environment for them in Chelmsford. Ta.
“Together, we hope to build on that achievement and take the game even further. We thank the club for their continued support and would like to thank them for their continued support of the club, which believes that cricket is for everyone. We are excited to share Her Game Too Cricket's message and begin collaborating.”
