Leicester 'concerned' over EFL's actions in financial investigationPublished at 12:18
Leicester City said it was seeking an “appropriate overall outcome” into the English Football League's ongoing investigation into possible breaches of Profitability and Sustainability (P&S) rules.
The EFL has announced a judgment finding that its Club Financial Reporting Unit (CFRU) acted in excess of its authority in dealing with the Foxes.
The club was expected to breach loss limits in the current three-year term.
They were asked to submit a business plan on how they would comply with the P&S regulations.
However, the independent Club Financial Reporting Panel (CFRP) concluded that Leicester had “no obligation to submit and agree a business plan” based on the rules “as currently written”.
The Foxes said they were “delighted” that the commission had ruled in their favor, but added: “The CFRP has not made this decision in order to prevent the CFRU from acting outside established EFL rules. He said he was “concerned” that there was a need to “intervene.”
“Leicester City has confirmed that it is in discussions with the football authorities regarding profitability and sustainability calculations,” the club's statement continued.
“Despite the CFRP's decision, the club remains committed to pursuing an appropriate overall outcome in this matter.”
