Cumberland officials announced Monday that Cumberland's Jacob White and Caleb Ginnings have been named the Mid-South Conference Men's Volleyball Player of the Year for the second time this season.
The strong duo of White and Ginnings continued to impress, contributing greatly to the team's recent winning streak with back-to-back wins at home against Midway and Brescia.
White dominated the offensive line, leading all attackers in kills in both games and hitting over .400. He had 17 kills against Midway and added nine more against Brescia for a total of 26 kills in just six sets.
White's efforts have put him among the top players on the NAIA men's volleyball leaderboard, ranking second in kills per set and attack percentage, and third in total kills with 176 kills to date. There is. He leads the Mid-South Conference with 54 kills in four conference games. He also ranks second in the nation in service aces and third in overall points earned.
This is White's second MSC Attacker of the Week honor this season and of his career.
Ginnings is off to a great start in his senior season, leading the Mid-South Conference with 54 hits and ranking second in the NAIA with 157 total hits. He averages 3.27 hits per set, which ranks second in the nation. Ginnings scored 20 goals in two games last week, peaking at 14 against Brescia. He averaged 3.33 digs per set and had a perfect receiving percentage as well.
This is Ginnings' ninth Defender of the Week honor in his career and second time this season.
Phoenix will be on vacation this week as they prepare to host a try match on March 16th.
They will first face conference rival Campbellsville at 12:30 p.m., followed by St. Louis College of Health Sciences and Pharmacy at 5:30 p.m.
