Ridgeline High School shook off some initial nerves and earned a 3-1 victory over 5A Box Elder. Aaron Young, a state football kicker turned volleyball outside hitter, expressed some apprehension at first, but quickly regained his form and contributed greatly with kills, blocks and serves. The game was a close one with dynamic shifts in momentum, but Ridgeline's strategic play and strong teamwork, under the guidance of coach Paul Warren, turned the tide in their favor. Andrew Pinoci and Trevor Topham stood out with impressive performances, showing the depth of talent within the team.
Green Canyon's impressive debut
Meanwhile, Green Canyon High School made its entry into boys volleyball with an impressive 3-1 victory over 6A Layton. Freshman setter Keaton Crosby showed off his skills with an astounding 46 assists and led the team's offensive strategy. The Wolves displayed solid defense and an aggressive serving game that included 17 aces, overwhelming Leighton and setting a high bar for the season. Coach Maraina Knowles praised the team's adaptability and bench contribution, highlighting the united effort behind the victory.
