COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (KDVR) — The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team will return to Colorado this summer.
The international friendly match will be against South Korea on June 1st at 3pm at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
The match, which is geared up for the upcoming 2024 Olympics in Paris, will be the first match for new USWNT coach Emma Hayes.
“We need as many quality matches as possible in the lead-up to the Olympics and South Korea will provide a good test. Over the next three months we will be watching all the matches as the players play in their respective club environments. “But the games in Colorado and Minnesota will give us an added advantage because they are the last international games before the Olympic team is selected,” said the U.S. interim. Head Coach Twyla Kilgore.
The team is made up of notable Coloradans, including captain Lindsey Horan of Golden, Mallory Swanson (Pugh) of Highlands Ranch, and Sophia Smith of Windsor.
Since their first game in 2008, the USWNT is undefeated (7-0-1) in eight games at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, including home state hero Smith in June 2022. That includes a 3-0 win over Colombia in which he scored two goals.
Tickets for this match will go on pre-sale to Circle Insiders, VIP Insiders and Premium Insiders starting Wednesday, March 6th at 10am. A pre-sale for Standard Insiders and Visa cardholders will go on sale Thursday, March 7th at 4:00 p.m.
General ticket sales will begin on Friday, March 8th at 10am.
The second international friendly will be held in St. Paul, Minnesota.
