This season's Ranji Trophy final will be held at the Wankhede Stadium here from March 10 to 14, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced on Monday.
The announcement of the title match venue came after 41-time champions Mumbai booked their place in the final for the 48th time.
“The Wankhede Stadium has been the home of Mumbai cricket for almost half a century. Therefore, given the legacy of the tournament and the importance of such a big match to the entire Mumbai cricket community, it is important to note that the final will be played at the Wankhede Stadium. ),” MCA Secretary General Ajinkya Naik said in a statement.
Mumbai reached the summit for the first time in a season by defeating Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs in the one-sided semi-final at the BKC Ground here on Monday.
Mumbai will face the winner of the semi-final match between Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh at the VCA Ground in Nagpur.
A strong performance with the bat in the second innings helped Vidarbha reach 343 for six with stumps on the third day and extend their lead by 261 runs.
