men's ice hockey
The East Haven Co-op men's ice hockey team played against Hamden on February 26th and won 6-2. The Yellow Jackets scored four points in the first period. John Dalbello led the way with an unassisted score. Lorenzo Defilio then scored two goals, the first with assists from Robert Testa and Landon Cantele, and the second with an assist from Testa. Mike Sabo then added a goal of his own, with Kantele assisting.
Preston Kantele found the back of the net in the second period, with an assist from Nick Perillo. Landon Kantele then scored a power-play goal, with an assist from Mike Fritz. Fritz guarded the net for the Yellow Jackets, making 20 saves and allowing two goals.
women's basketball
The East Haven girls basketball team hosted Jonathan Law in the first round of the SCC Tournament on February 15th, winning 46-38.
In the quarterfinals on February 17, the Yellow Jackets faced top-seeded Hamden, losing 66-18. East Haven was led by Julianna Iovino with seven points.
The team opened the Class MM state tournament as the 12th seed, defeating No. 21 Nonnewaug in the first round on Feb. 27 by a score of 63-49.
In the second round on March 1, the Yellow Jackets faced No. 5 Sheehan and lost 68-42.
