Baton Rouge, Louisiana – The University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball team forfeited its final two games in Louisiana. The Bears were more competitive this weekend, but fell to 0-8 on the young season.
UCA 0 – Nebraska 5
The Bears lost to the Cornhuskers in Sunday's opening action, but were able to keep things interesting throughout the game.pair of Peyton Sproule and Anna Columns, Madalyn Bass and Ella Weilertand Audrey Cathcart and Madeline White Everyone took a set from Nebraska, but in the end the Cornhuskers were able to put away the Bears. Nebraska fought back in those matches as the Bears' second half also won the opening frames, but the pair of Sproule and Collums had their backs against the wall and took the middle sets. UCA canceled the first-ever matchup between the two programs.
UCA 1 – Southern Miss 4
UCA was also competitive in its afternoon game against Southern Miss, which ran into the evening. The pair of Sproule and Columns were quite dominant against the Golden Eagles' No. 3 pair, Cassidy and Papakiriakou, winning in two sets.pair of katie atkinson and Brooke Kuball It was a close match against USM's No. 1 pair. Southern Miss currently holds a 5-2 lead in the all-time series, including five of the last six meetings.
The Bears return to Louisiana for the Southeastern Invitational in Hammond. UCA begins play on Friday, March 8 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. against Texas A&M – Kingsville and hosts Southeastern Louisiana. The Bears will then complete the game on Saturday, March 9th.th They will face Spring Hill State and McNeese State at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
