Stevens Point, Wisconsin–The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point plays the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Ice Hockey Tournament/Commissioner's Cup hosted by Culver's on March 2 at KB Willett Arena. They won the championship by defeating the school 5-1.
This is the second consecutive tournament title and fifth overall for No. 6 ranked UW-Stevens Point (21-5-2). The Pointers also received the conference's automatic NCAA bid.
University of Vienna Stevens Point exploded for three goals in the first period. Five minutes into the game, Sean Bunting scored the first goal off an assist from Cody Moline. Noah Finstrom scored the winning goal 38 seconds later with assists from Connor Witherspoon and Dawson Sciarrino. David Hill scored in the first period, and Moline and Isaac Moberg added assists with four minutes left.
Bunting added another point in the second period, with an assist from Kyle Proctor.
University of Vienna-Eau Claire took the lead on Kyler Grundy's power-play goal with three minutes left in the second period. He was supported by Quinn Green and Willie Stover.
Fletcher Anderson scored the winning goal in the third period with assists from Bunting and Andrew Puglias.
Alex Proctor made 41 saves for the Pointers, who earned their 18th win of the season.
